Labelling Compliance for NZ/Aus/US/UK
McFoodies technologists can provide labelling information for food manufacturers and distributors to comply with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and the US / UK food labelling regulations.
This includes:
- Ingredients listing and Characterising Ingredients
- Food Additives
- Allergens
- Nutrition Information Panels
- Claims
The technologist uses information provided by you and your raw material suppliers to compile a written compliance report. The report clearly states what needs to be on the label, and why it needs to be there. This ensures that if your food labels are audited, you hold evidence of compliance with the legislation. And if your food labels are compliant, there will be no need for costly product recalls.
Fees
Labelling Compliance for New Zealand and Australian markets: $105 + GST per hour
Labelling Compliance for US and UK markets: $150 + GST per hour
The cost of your project will depend on the complexity of the product in terms of ingredients and label claims. Normally it takes a McFoodies technologist 2-5 hours to compile a labelling compliance report for a straight-forward product with no claims.
If the product is more complex, for example if intermediate ingredients are manufactured as part of the product, or if label claims are being made, then the cost of compiling a label compliance report will be higher. For a product range comprising similar ingredients there will be an overall saving in time and a reduced cost for the whole range. Your McFoodies Technologist will require information such as formulations, product shelf-life, product yields for heated products, proposed package net weights and serving sizes, ingredient information such as GM status, ingredient listings of compound ingredients, presence of allergens etc.
McFoodies can assist with obtaining this information from your ingredients suppliers if necessary. Assuming all the requested information is supplied, we would normally provide a Labelling Compliance report for up to 3 products within 10 working days.
